Lecture by Professor Sazan Kryeziu at the University of Arizona (USA)

At the invitation of the Department of Linguistics at the University of Arizona in Tucson, USA, Professor Sazan Kryeziu delivered an online lecture to master’s level students in linguistics, psychology, and philosophy at this renowned institution.

The lecture focused on the topic: “The Philosophy of Language and Phenomenology”, exploring the origin and nature of language as an experience that connects us to the world and to the Other—beyond its communicative and structural functions. It was emphasized that language is a shared space where meaning, dialogue, and engagement with the world unfold, and that it serves as the source through which the human being—as an interpreting being—constructs their relationship with reality and with others.

Drawing on the philosophical thought of major figures in phenomenology—Edmund Husserl, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, and Martin Heidegger—Professor Kryeziu discussed how language shapes our experience and consciousness. He also addressed the loss of the experiential and meaningful value of language in contemporary times, in which language is often reduced to a technical instrument or a means of conveying information.

The lecture was met with great interest by students and academic staff alike, sparking a fruitful discussion on the transcendental and existential nature of language.

This international collaboration highlights our commitment to the internationalization of academic activity and to representing our university on the global stage of knowledge.
