Department of English Language – Translation and Interpretation Organizes Meeting with Alumni
The Department of English Language – Translation and Interpretation, within the Faculty of Philology at the University “Fehmi Agani” in Gjakova, organized an online meeting with alumni of the programme on 29.10.2026, with the aim of exchanging professional experiences, discussing the challenges graduates face in the labour market, and identifying opportunities for the further development of the study programme.
The meeting was organized by the Head of the Department, Prof. Mejreme Ymeri, and Prof. Elsa Vula.
During the meeting, alumni shared their professional experiences following graduation, highlighting the challenges and demands of the labour market in the fields of English language, translation, and interpreting. Discussions focused particularly on the need for more advanced professional preparation and the importance of aligning the programme's content with current labour market requirements.
One of the key issues addressed was the need to establish a Master's degree programme at the Faculty of Philology, which would enable graduates to further pursue their academic and professional development in the fields of English language, translation, and interpreting.
Particular attention was also devoted to the organization of professional internships. Alumni emphasized the importance of introducing internships from the first year of study and ensuring that they are implemented progressively, systematically, and in coordination with relevant institutions and organizations. According to the alumni, such an approach would enable students to gain practical experience from the early stages of their studies, develop professional skills, and become better prepared for entering the labour market.
The meeting also provided an important opportunity to gather concrete recommendations from graduates, which will contribute to the ongoing evaluation and continuous improvement of the study programme.
The Department of English Language – Translation and Interpretation highly appreciates the contribution and engagement of its alumni, considering cooperation with graduates an essential element in ensuring quality, developing academic programmes, and strengthening the link between higher education and the labour market.
