Developing Translation Competences through Practical Work in the Laboratory

Third-year students of the Translation and Interpreting program at the Department of English Language, within the Faculty of Philology at “Fehmi Agani” University of Gjakova, are conducting practical lectures in the Translation and Interpreting Laboratory, as part of the course Consecutive Interpreting, taught by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elsa Vula.

These lectures aim to achieve the objectives of the course “Consecutive Interpreting” by developing students’ practical skills in real-time interpreting. Students practice interpreting from English into Albanian and vice versa, using professional interpreting equipment and authentic materials, such as TED Talks, which help them enhance active listening, speaking fluency, and note-taking techniques.

The Translation and Interpreting Laboratory provides a modern and professional environment, simulating real conference interpreting situations. This approach enables students to bridge theory and practice, gaining hands-on experience in the field of consecutive interpreting and better preparing for their future professional roles as translators and interpreters.
